JKU Researcher wins Zonta Award

This year’s "Women in Technology" Zonta International Award in the USA was presented to Medina Hamidovic.

As part of a worldwide competition that included nominees from Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece and Lebanon, the jury selected Medina Hamidovic (Institute of Communications Engineering and Radio Frequency Systems) as the award recipient.

Paper: Award for her general work

Content: Hamidovic was presented with the award in recognition of her outstanding academic work and research in mechatronics and engineering, particularly her modern cross-disciplinary research in medicine and mechatronics. Her current doctoral dissertation focuses on microfluidic networks and modern communication systems.

About Medina Hamidovic, (28) from Linz

Research: Hamidovic works on bringing aspects in biology, medicine and engineering together. Her doctoral dissertation at the JKU focuses on the potential and feasibility of developing new communication systems based on microfluidics to, for example, create a system to detect water pathogens that could be faster and cheaper than conventional systems.
