Martina Mara is a Professor for Psychology of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics and the head of the Robopsychology Lab at the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT) at Johannes Kepler University Linz. In 2014, she completed her PhD in Psychology at the University of Koblenz-Landau, focusing on user acceptance of human-like robots. In 2022, she received her habilitation in Psychology from the University of Nuremberg. Before joining JKU as a professor in 2018, she worked for many years in non-academic sectors, including at the Ars Electronica Futurelab, where she led R&D collaborations with international tech companies. She is a co-founder of the Initiative Digitalisierung Chancengerecht (IDC), a board member of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and has received several awards, including the Vienna Women's Prize in the category "Digitalization," a Futurezone Award in the category "Women in Tech," and the Käthe Leichter Prize for outstanding contributions to women's and gender research from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs. In addition to her teaching and research activities, she is passionate about science communication, regularly giving public lectures or developing interactive exhibitions on the research topics of her lab.
