The Austrian Science Fund (FWF) presented Stephan Pühringer with the START Award for outstanding junior researchers on June 23, 2023, for his project "SETER" (Sustainable Socio-Economic Transition, abbreviated: SET).

The project focuses on socio-economic transitions showing just how a globalized society shapes science and economic systems as well as focusing on aspects regarding the climate crisis. The study also shines a light on how economic thinking influences different areas and how it is influenced by powerful individuals.
