Initiated by Prof. Dr. Walter Summersberger (BFG / Institute for Financial Law and Procedural Justice at the JKU) 20 years ago when he was in Salzburg, the conference has since become a productive exchange between BFG judges, the German tax courts, the German Federal Finance Court, the Administrative Court of Austria, and the Swiss Federal Court, as well as selected JKU scholars. During his opening address, the President of the BFG, Dr. Peter Unger, focused on this conference's international reputation and the required interaction between law and academia to support procedural fairness.

The conference focused on customs and tax issues related to international trade with topics ranging from aviation fuel taxation and legal digitalization to security planning by requiring certain information when it comes to the cross-border movement of goods. The JKU Linz was represented by Univ. Prof. Dr. Thomas Bieber, Univ. Assist. Denise Schmaranzer BSc, LL.M., Univ. Assist. Maximilian Reindl, MSc., as well as Univ. Assist. Mag. Ricarda Aschauer (Institute for Financial Law / Institute for Administrative Law and Administrative Theory / LIT Law Lab).
