Summer review of our doctoral students: An instructive summer comes to an end

Our doctoral student Theresa Füreder and our doctoral student Johannes Winkler made effective use of the lecture-free period in the summer. Both of them received further training in research methods at renowned institutions and also had the opportunity to present their current research projects.

[Translate to Englisch:] Theresa Füreder Johannes Winkler

Theresa Füreder successfully applied for the "Qualitative Methods Workshop" in June 2024 at the NOVA Business School in Portugal. This prestigious event offered her the opportunity to gain insights from experts in the field of ethnographic research Beth Becky (UC Davis), Anne-Laure Fayard, (Nova Business School), Ruthanne Huising (Emlyon Business School), Hila Lifshitz-Assaf (Warwick Business School) and Melissa Mazmanian (University of California, Irvine).
Together with around 25 other PhD and postdoc students, Theresa deepened her knowledge of qualitative research methods in an intensive four-day workshop. The workshop focussed on the application of research methods - in the course of a group project Theresa and her team colleagues were able to apply the research methods and received useful feedback from the experts during the final presentation on the last workshop day.
Theresa was also able to present her own data for a current research project during a round table session and received helpful feedback for further data collection and analysis. For Theresa, this was a unique opportunity to learn from the best and gain valuable inspiration for her own field research.

Johannes Winkler qualified as one of 25 participants for the eleventh edition of the prestigious KIN Summer School. The event was organized by the KIN Center for Digital Innovation and the Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI) at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, from June 30 to July 3, 2024. There, he had the exclusive opportunity to engage with leading experts and emerging scholars in the field of digital innovation and organizational research.
Johannes gained valuable insights into the latest developments and research topics related to Artificial Intelligence in the workplace, distributed and hybrid work, algorithmic organizing, and process research.
Under the guidance of the renowned scholars Nick Berente (University of Notre Dame), Pamela Hinds (Stanford University), Vern Glaser (University of Alberta), and Marleen Huysman (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), he participated in intensive discussions and group work. These sessions provided him with the opportunity not only to present his latest research project but also to generate targeted feedback.

Theresa and Johannes would also like to thank the department "Teaching and Studies Organization" of  Johannes Kepler University Linz. In the course of a successful application for a JKU scholarship, Theresa and Johannes each received the maximum amount of € 3,598.00, which enabled them to finance these course visits, among other things.
