On June 13, 2023, the JKU Business School Lunch Time Seminar took place. Three stimulating presentations gave an insight into the Business School's current research.
Jacqueline Strakova, MSc from the Institut für Unternehmensrechnung und Wirtschaftsprüfung presented qualitative research on auditing non-financial information in light of current pan-European developments. By interviewing auditing firms, she shows current challenges and opportunities, motivation to enter this field of business, and processes of auditing non-financial information.
Dr. Florian Köhne from the Institute for Entrepreneurship presented a conceptual manuscript. The starting point is an informal meeting place for refugees in a small German town. Based on interviews with participants and third-party material about this meeting place, he develops a concept of social work interstitial microsettings, i.e. configurations with which refugees and other marginalized groups are supported.
Shekerta Aliu, MSc from the University of Genoa focuses on a specific industry in her paper and analyzes Italian energy providers. She is interested in whether or what regulatory information these same companies use in their decision-making. The results of a survey, supplemented by expert interviews, reveal exciting differences between large and medium-sized energy providers.
Dr. Karin Niederwimmer, Prof. Dr. Elke Schüßler and Dr. Melanie Lubinger were available as discussants.
The event was organized by Assoz. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Kffr. Birgit Grüb-Martin (Institute for Management Accounting) and Ass.-Prof. MMag. Dr. Thomas Brunner-Kirchmair (Institute for Corporate Finance).
Afterwards, the discussions were continued and deepened with sandwiches and drinks provided by JKU Business School.
The next Lunch Time Seminar will be held on November 9, 2023 from 12:30-14:00.
