The JKU Business School Lunch Time Seminar took place on 28 May 2024. After a welcome from the Business School by the Dean for Internationalisation & Engagement, Priv.-Doz. Dr. Sandra Stötzer, two exciting presentations provided insights into the Business School's current research.
Dr. Shekerta Aliu and Mag. Philumena Bauer from the Institute of Management Accounting presented a qualitative content analysis of sustainability reports from large Austrian state-owned companies. In their work entitled ‘Sustainability Management Controls for Implementing the SDGs in Large Austrian Federal State-Owned Enterprises’, they analyse the measures taken by these companies, observe the changes in sustainability reports in recent years and illustrate the importance of sustainability reporting and how it is handled in state-owned companies.
Julia Trautendorfer, MSc. from the Institute for Public and Nonprofit Management, presented a current project entitled ‘Public Sector Transparency: Exploring the Interplay between Citizens’ Information Demand and Government Information Supply’. She analyses a large data set from the online platform ‘fragdenstaat.de’, which collects citizens' enquiries, forwards them to the relevant public organisational units and publishes the answers online. Exciting findings and patterns were observed and the need for further research was identified.
Univ. Prof. Dr. Martin Hiebl from the Institute of Controlling and Consulting and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tobias Wiß from the Institute of Political Science and Social Policy were available as discussants and shared their profound experiences and assessments with the presenters.
The event was organised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Birgit Grüb-Martin (Institute of Management Accounting) and Ass. Prof. Dr. Thomas Brunner-Kirchmair (Institute of Corporate Finance).
Afterwards, the discussions were continued and deepened with sandwiches and drinks provided by the JKU Business School.
The next Lunch Time Seminar will take place on 16 October 2024 from 12:30-14:00.
