On October 16, 2024, the JKU Business School Lunch Time Seminar took place. After a welcome from the Dean of Research & Impact, Prof. Dr. Barbara Krumay, two engaging presentations offered insights into the current research conducted at the Business School.
Johannes Brandstetter, MSc, from the Institute for International Management, presented a qualitative study titled "Understanding the Career Transition of Refugees: The Case of Ukrainians in Europe and Implications for HRM Practices." The research focused on examining the career transitions of Ukrainian refugees within the context of their arrival and integration in Austria. Based on interviews with Ukrainian refugees and representatives from refugee organizations, key findings were gathered that provide valuable implications for Human Resource Management practices.
Maren Umdasch, MSc MBA, from the Institute for Entrepreneurship, presented a current research project titled "Riding the Emotional Rollercoaster: The Role of Belonging for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs' Identity." Through the analysis of 12 case studies of start-ups within an incubator program, she developed a model depicting the interplay between the sense of belonging and identity. The study revealed intriguing insights and patterns, as well as areas for further research.
Univ. Prof. Claudio Biscaro, PhD, from the Institute for Leadership and Change Management, and a. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eduard Brandstätter from the Institute of Psychology served as discussants, sharing their profound expertise and perspectives with the presenters.
The event was organized by Assoc. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Kffr. Birgit Grüb-Martin (Institute for Management Accounting) and Ass.-Prof. MMag. Dr. Thomas Brunner-Kirchmair (Institute of Finance).
Following the presentations, discussions continued over refreshments provided by the JKU Business School.
