Vice-Rector Elgin Drda presented physician PD DDr. Sabine Altrichter with her certificate.

PD DDr. Sabine Altrichter (Department of Dermatology and Venereology at the Kepler University Hospital) received her habilitation/post-doc certificate in “Dermatology and Allergology” for her dissertation titled, “Diagnostik und Therapie der cholinergischen Urtikaria”. In it, she explains that cholinergic urticaria (CholU) is one of the most commonly fund forms of chronic inducible urticaria and can be difficult to diagnose on account of the transient - and sometimes subjective - nature of its symptoms. The paper focused on improving investigations into this disease.
Altrichter studied medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and practiced as a dermatology specialist at Charité Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, where she also earned her post-doc in 2020. She moved to Linz 2021 and began at KUK.
Those pursuing a habilitation/post-doc undergo an academic evaluation in regard to special qualifications that proves their ability to independently conduct academic/scientific research and teach the entire depth and breadth of their selected subject area [venia docendi], This, in turn, is the prerequisite to grant authorization to teach that particular subject area. A so-called “Umhabilitation” is a streamlined procedure in which an individual receives a teaching qualification for another university or faculty.
