With financial support provided by the Rectorate, the Institute of Economics presented awards in recognition of outstanding publications in international journals. There were interesting papers published this year in Management Science, Games and Economic Behavior, Journal of Public Economics, Health Economics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Population Economics, and Nature Communications.

The 2024 award winners included Katrin Zocher, Daniel Schäfer, Ulrich Glogowsky, Wolfgang Frimmel, Rudolf Winter-Ebmer, Jochen Güntner, Felix Glaser, René Wiesinger, Peter Öhlinger, and Michael Irlacher. Institute head Prof. Rudolf Winter-Ebmer pointed out just how important international publications are: “The likelihood of getting published in these international journals is often no higher than 10 -15%. The review process is rigorous, scrutinizing the papers, and often putting the authors under enormous pressure. One can, however, learn a lot from some of the world’s best reviewers, taking their insight into consideration, which can improve the paper’s quality in leaps and bounds.”
