The JKU Turns Into a “Circus of Well-Being”

During the month of June, the Johannes Kepler University Linz will transform into an oasis of well-being.

The Circus of Knowledge is proud to present the “Circus of Well-Being”, an interactive and theatrical journey focusing on the question of just what exactly makes us all happy. Famous South African puppet maker Roger Titley (who captivated audiences in Linz with his wildlife creations at the “Flut” during the Sound Cloud as part of Linz09) will also be taking part. The premiere is scheduled on June 13 beginning at 3:00 PM and is open to the public. Admission is donation-based. Sign up in advance at: jku.at/circus.

“Well-being” is important to everyone of all ages. As the academic year draws to a close, the JKU Circus of Knowledge aims to address the topic in collaboration with artists, educators, and psychologists.

An Interactive, “Feel-Good” Experience

The JKU’s “Circus of Well-Being” will feature theatrical, dance, music, singing, and a few surprises! The event was designed as an interactive experience, transforming the university campus into a performance-based, feel-good space in an effort to support one’s personal well-being.

Roger Titley's imaginative puppets will also part of the production, including tricycle-riding Nana, a dancing dragon, and Spot the Robot Dog, joining the audience in searching for answers to the question: “What makes us happy?”. Ida Kelarova, a leading interpreter of Roma songs, returns to Linz to compose the music for the performance, together with the well-known local violinists Theresa Aigner and Toni Burger. World-renowned Israeli theater artist David Maayan (familiar to Linz audiences from Purimspil (Linz09) and Zehn Zeugen sajnen mir gewesn), is responsible for the overall concept and staging.

Performances open to the public: Thursday, June 13, beginning at 3:00 PM, and Saturday, June 15, beginning at 4:00 PM; free school performances will be offered beginning June 3.

Admission to the JKU Circus of Knowledge is admission-based. Seating is limited and we ask those interested to sign up in advance at www.jku.at/zirkus, opens an external URL in a new window to attend.

Activities to Support Personal Well-Being Throughout Campus

Beginning June 3, a variety of activities in support of personal well-being will take place across the JKU that include meditation sessions, yoga, music, drawing, a community mandala, community singing and much more! These activities are open to anyone interested (no advanced registration required) and have been designed to transform the university campus into a space of inspiration and a place of well-being and discovery.

Additional campus activities are scheduled to take place between June 3 to June 6, as well as on June 10 to June 13, between 1:00 PM and 5:00 pm.
