Led by Timo Reichert, the JKU team was among the top favorites dominating the group stage and winning all of the League of Legends matches. The JKU team then advanced to the playoffs, beating the University of Vienna 2:0 in the quarterfinals and also winning 2:0 against another University of Vienna team during the semifinals. In the final, they went up against the tournament favorites from the University of Salzburg.

The Linz team fought valiantly, winning one match and only narrowly losing the decisive game. Timo Reichert is justifiably proud of his team's performance and remarked: "While it hurt at the moment because we were so close to first place, in hindsight, we are all very proud of our performance and giving the crowd an exciting final! We also spoke with members from the other team and they told us that they didn't think it would be so close!"
