Prof. Högler Receives Presidential Award

Univ. Prof. Wolfgang Högler was presented with the Presidential Poster Award at a conference in Athens.

Over 3,600 experts attended the European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology in Greece. Wolfgang Högler, expert for childhood illnesses and head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Kepler University Hospital, attended the conference and presented a paper on the first-time findings made by the Global Registry Study for Bone Disorder Hypophosphatasia showing the delayed diagnosis and complications in children who have this rare disease. Prof Högler is on registry’s board and recruited the first of now 400 patients worldwide.

About Prof. Högler
Born in Salzburg, Wolfgang Högler was previously at the Institute of Metabolism and Systems Research at the University of Birmingham and later head of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. His research interests include, among other things, diagnosing and treating bone and growth disorders, particularly vitreous bone disease, rickets, and dwarfism. Prof. Högler has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the British ACCEA National Bronce Award for Clinical Excellence. He is married and has three children.
