The Johannes Kepler University Linz held its first-ever Summer Ball under the motto "Dance the Kepler" on Friday, June 14.
Some 2,000 exuberant guests transformed a summery JKU campus into an entertaining and lively ballroom.
JKU Rector Stefan Koch was impressed and remarked: "I am delighted that the JKU has made a return to the dance floor with an entirely reimagined university ball. Our beautiful campus is not only a place to study, teach, conduct research and spend time, but also to party and dance the night away as part of an impressive summer ball!"
The JKU campus served as both stage and ballroom on this dazzling evening as students, employees, partners, friends, and many passionate ball-goers experienced an enchanting night of dancing and entertainment: BANDADRIATICA (Italy) entertained guests as they entered the ball. Along with dancers representing the Bruckner University Linz, the JKU University Orchestra delivered an impressive ball opening at the Kepler Hall, followed by the Upper Austrian band, VOICES AND MUSIC. At midnight, Linz artist and multiple state champion in show dancing, Joel Teodoro, and BANDADRIATICA, invited guests to the "Revolution Dance - Arriva la Banda". The extensive, kaleidoscopic program impressed numerous guests, including many guests of honor, including Thomas Stelzer (Upper Austrian Governor), Dietmar Prammer (city councilor), Franz Harnoncourt (managing director of the Kepler University Hospital), Amalia Berger-Lehner (president of the Linz Regional Court), Angelika Sery-Froschauer (Vice-President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce), and Leo Jindrak (also Vice-President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce), Joachim Haindl-Grutsch (managing director of the Federation of Austrian Industries), Stefanie Christina Huber (General Director of Sparkasse of Upper Austria), JKU Austrian Student Union chair Philipp Bergsmann, representatives from numerous other universities, the JKU Rectorate, Senate, University Council, Works Council, and many more.
Your Prof is Your DJ
The popular "Your Prof is Your DJ", familiar fixture from past JKU balls, brought students and faculty members together on the dance floor. JKU professors Klaus Bretterbauer, Andreas Gruber, and Martina Schickmair used their DJ skills to get the dancefloor jumping, and guests danced until the wee hours of the morning. Rector Koch himself surprised the crowd by taking to the turntables at midnight!
