Getting to Linz
You can get to Linz by car, train or airplane. Linz is located along Austria's main freeway (Autobahn A1), its main train station (Linz/Donau Hbf) is connected to Europe's high speed train system and there are 2-3 daily flights into Linz Airport from Frankfurt.

When flying into Linz, there are three main options:
- Fly into Vienna Intl. Airport and take a direct, high speed train from the Vienna Airport Railway Station (Flughafen Wien Bahnhof) to the main train station in Linz (Linz/Donau Hbf). The Vienna Airport is well connected to many major European cities and world-wide. Travel time from Vienna Airport to Linz/Donau Hbf is approx. 1h 45 min; a one-way ticket is €49.60 (last update: January 2025) and trains run every 30 minutes.
- Fly into Linz Airport via Frankfurt Intl. Airport. Depending on the day of the week, there are 2-3 daily flights from Frankfurt to Linz, operated by Austrian Airlines/Lufthansa (Star Alliance). Public transportation by bus from Linz Airport to the city center (Linz/Donau main train station) is available (a one-way ticket is € 3). You can also opt to take a taxi from the airport to Linz (approx. €40).
- Fly into Munich Airport and take a local train from Munich Airport to Munich Main Station (München Hbf), or to the train station München Ost. There are frequent connections to Linz Main Train Station from both Munich train stations.
Getting to the JKU
You can get to the Johannes Kepler University Linz easily by taking public transportation (tram lines 1 and 2), or by car. We strongly recommend using public transportation as the university parking lots can get quite full.

When in Linz, take tram lines 1 or 2 in the direction of "Universität". Travel time to the university from the main train station in Linz is approximately 24 minutes; from the main square in Linz, travel time is approximately 16 minutes. Depending on the time of day, the trams run every 5-10 minutes.

Visa Information
It is the participants' responsibility to acquire a travel visa to enter Austria. Should one be necessary, we can support you by supplying an invitation letter. However, we are not visa experts, nor can we expedite the visa process. Thus, we urge you to register early and arrange for your visa in advance. The processing time may vary depending on the country and individual circumstances.
