Workshop c Zoe Goldstein

HOLIDAY IN PARADISE uses technology, innovative sound design, and physical/visual communication for both the performers and the audience to build a language bridge between those who can hear and those who are hearing-impaired. The idea is to invite those who can hear to the world of the hearing-impaired and DEAF Plus. The design elements allow those who can hear to take part in the world of the hearing-impaired and DEAF Plus; hearing-impaired performers have also created their own language especially for the performance.

The performance addresses questions about what happens when we are at a loss for words. Developing a visual language to express feelings and emotions is a uniquely challenging endeavor for the DEAF Plus community. As part of a preview for the upcoming sicht:wechsel, opens an external URL in a new window festival, the audience is introduced to a performance that will premiere at the Circus of Knowledge in late September. It is a snapshot and a work in progress that focuses on the music and wonderfully creative new instruments.
