Translational Obstetrics

In accordance with the collective agreement for university employees, the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecological Endocrinology (Faculty of Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University) invites applications by candidates holding a doctorate/PhD to apply for a clinical tenure-track professorship position in “Translational Obstetrics”.

In accordance with the collective agreement for university employees and the 2002 Universities Act (UG), the successful candidate for the six-year, full-time (40 hours per week) tenure-track clinical professorship position in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Gynecological Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine at the Johannes Kepler University Linz must hold a doctorate/PhD degree. The position will involve a combination of research, teaching, and clinical care. In consultation with the Kepler University Hospital, the ratio between research and teaching (30%) and clinical care (70%) will be determined

The position of a tenure-track professor is open to highly qualified junior researchers holding a doctorate/Ph.D. in medicine and includes the option of concluding a qualification agreement which - following a positive decision - could result in a permanent position as Associate Professor (§ 99 para. 5 and 6 of the Austrian Universities Act).

Based on optimizing synergies in patient care, research, and education, the tenure-track professorship position for translational obstetrics is being established as an interdisciplinary position spanning multiple areas of patient care, taking a translational approach involving preclinical base-knowledge research and clinical research. The research and educational focus should target transferring significant academic and scientific findings directly into clinical applications from a preventive medicine perspective, and contributing significantly to improving healthcare standards in the field of obstetric care. Ideally, modern future-oriented aspects - such as digitalization, smart sensor technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning  - should be applied in the research and teaching concept.

Following the successful completion of a doctorate/Ph.D., the prospective applicant will be expected to demonstrate a record of scholarly activity, outstanding publications, teaching experience, and having successfully acquired external research funding. The candidate’s doctorate/PhD degree should be no older than ten years, whereby career breaks on account of parenting leave, military service, etc. may be deducted.
