Markus Sinnl (age 32) is among the top 30 researchers in the ranking of all scientists in business administration under 40 years in the German speaking countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland).
Every two years, the research institute KOF at ETH Zurich in collaboration with the Düsseldorf Institute of Competition Economics ranks all researchers in Business Administration in three categories: research output in the last 4 years, top scientists under 40 years, and lifetime research achievement. Markus Sinnl (age 32) of the Institute of Production and Logistics Management at JKU is ranked among the top 30 researchers under 40 years of age in the German speaking countries Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and number one considering researchers with only an Austrian affiliation.
His research has been published in the leading journals of the field, like Management Science and Operations Research. His main research interests are in the development of efficient algorithms for hard optimization problems arising in (vehicle) routing, facility location, network design, telecommunications or systems biology. He has been awarded the Dissertation prize of the Austrian Operations Research Society and the INFORMS Section on Location Analysis. He recently won an LIT young career project and a JKU Business School seed-project within the interdisciplinary high-impact research call.
